What is GUIDING all about?

Guiding is all about teamwork and co-operation, helping others, making new friends, trusting one another and being a responsible guides.

Teamwork exists only when each and everyone of the team co-operates with one another. Every person has a duty or part to play in when completing a task or activities in a competition. No one is left behind to complete or finish a job alone. When there is a co-operation, there is a teamwork. For instance, there were times in guides when our seniors divided us into groups for a task - tying gadets. This is done so by using twine to bind wooden poles together. There was a time limit given to each of the groups and everyone has to complete the task within the time frame. However, there is a problem. Some groups were unable to complete the task within the time frame while other could. One of the main reasons to it was because the co-operation exists between members of a team was not there. The groups that were able to finish the job at a
faster rate has better team bond as compared to the team that took a longer time. Therefore, co-operation and teamwork plays an important role in guiding.

A guide is helpful in many ways. For example, raising funds for the poor and needy and also to help and support some of our guides activities organised by our headquarter by selling guides cookies in our school or participating in some marathons. There were times when our school held events such as the school's annual road run, sport meet or even swimming carnival, our guides never fail to volunteer their services in the serving of food and drinks to the people or lending a helping hand to the teachers during the prize presentation to the winners of the events.

A guides is also friendly and boisterous. There were serveral times when our guiders sent us out to participate in competitons, involving not only out scholl but other schools as well. During these competition, some of us were separated and had to be grouped with other's participants from other school. At first, it was tough to co-operate with each other but as time goes by, given a friendly and boisterious nature, we make new friends very quickly. Although we didn't win the the competition at the end of the day, but we had fun, gained experiences and most importantly, we make new friends.

Being a responsible guides is also essential in guiding. In this way, being responsible can allow us to create an impression that we are reliable, considerate and can be trusted to handle difficult tasks and is cheerful in all difficulties. People will look upon us as good models.

Guiding is also all about fun, fun and more fun. Given our creative leaders who always come up with new and creative games for us to explore and play. There will alway be fun, laughter and joy during guides meetings and it will forever be etched in out minfs as wonderful and joyful memories.
